Honey harvesting is the process of collecting mature honey from beehives without harming the bees or damaging the colony. When done correctly, it ensures high-quality honey, healthy bees, and sustainable production.

When to Harvest Honey

Honey should be harvested only when it is fully mature. Mature honey is identified by:

Honeycomb cells that are at least 80% capped

Thick honey that does not drip easily

Bees actively foraging and strong colony population

Harvesting too early can result in fermented honey due to excess moisture.
